The Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East is heading to Qatar
After an action-packed season opener at the Bahrain International Circuit earlier this month and an exhilarating presence in front of thousands of Porsche aficionados at the Icons of Porsche event in Dubai, the Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East will head to Lusail International Circuit for the first time ever as a support race at the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix, from 29th November to 1st December 2024.
Alongside this latest addition to the race calendar, this season the Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East features 6 race events across the Middle East with a total of 12 thrilling races. 6 of them will be part of three Formula 1 support events in Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, 2 already took place alongside the FIA World Endurance Championship, in Bahrain, and 4 will happen at exclusive Porsche Carrera Cup events in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
The series, grown from the GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East since 2009, offers an ideal platform for both local and international drivers, as well as professional racing teams, to showcase their talents on some of the most challenging and iconic circuits in the world under ideal weather conditions. There are 3 main categories: Pro, ProAm, and the newly introduced Masters category (purely for amateur participants aged over 40), along with a GCC and Rookie Classification for each race.
Based on the highly successful Porsche formula for one-make series racing the Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East, one of 12 Carrera Cup series worldwide, gives every driver an equal chance to compete, racing in identically constructed Porsche 911 GT3 Cup cars.
Robert Lechner, Series Head and Promoter: “I am very much looking forward to heading to the second round of this season’s Porsche Carrera Cup Middle East later this week. I am especially glad that we successfully started the 2024/2025 edition again at Bahrain International Circuit, where everything started in 2009. Being part of three fascinating Formula 1 race weekends and debuting as a support event at the Formula 1 Qatar Airways Qatar Grand Prix 2024 is a new milestone for us. Thank you very much to everyone involved in the discussions and preparations at Lusail International Circuit, and especially to the Qatar Motor & Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) for their trust and collaboration as well as the Swiss sports marketing experts from Glenvale Sports for supporting us in all commercial conversations.“
